The True Value Of Your Work
Here is another great link to add to my last post: http://www.ugandachurches.org/
...on to other things.
John 6:27 says, "Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him." In America, we work and work, putting value into our labor. But so many of us labor, having nothing to do with the building of the kingdom through our work. The only thing that matters is furthering the kingdom of God. The pursuits of all other things are futile; fruitless. It was promised in Genesis, after the fall, that we would have to labor, working the land. But, we still need to realize that all we do must be dedicated to the Lord. We can't work for ourselves; to fill our own bellies and aspirations. There is so much more. Unfortunately, most of us never get that.
Jesus had trouble getting people to really understand that too. Not that He couldn't explain it, but people were unwilling to believe Him. John 6:66-69 says, "From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, 'Do you also want to go away?' But Simon Peter answered Him, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God'." Jesus replied in verse 70, "Did I not choose you, the twelve?" He is our food. No matter what we do, let all labor lead to advancing the kingdom of God, that He will count us worthy to be chosen, not for the many that were looking for physical blessings for their own interests. That's not what serving God is about. All things work together for the good of God.
