Does This Mean I'm Old?

Am I getting old? I find myself listening to more classic rock than new rock, nowadays. I actually like it when Fleetwood Mac comes on the radio. I've always loved The Doors, Led Zepplin, Van Halen..., but now I am finding myself liking The Eagles, The Beach Boys, and The Rolling Stones. Just so you don't think I'm completely losing it, I do love some new music: Sevendust, Three Days Grace, Foo Fighters... It could be worse. I could be longing to throw on an old Gino Vannelli, Rupert Holmes, or Leo Sayer album (of course now that I say that, I have "When I Need You" stuck in my head. Help!) Although, I might be tempted to listen to some of them over some of the new "music". This new stuff is often written by the same people, sounds sterile, and formulaic. Most really creative stuff is sqashed by record companies that don't think it could sell. Well why, then, are record sales down if people are soooo happy with the output of these companies? I'm not talking about stuff that is way out in left field either! Just bands that take some liberties to evoke some emotion in what they do. If I start really digging Jim Nieghbors, somebody please do an intervention.

I don't think you're getting old - I think you noticed something I did a while ago - they just don't make music like they used to - there's something about that good time rock'n'roll that people just don't make anymore. The intensity and drive isn't there - like you said, they don't "evoke some emotion". I think it's a shame.

But wait, maybe it'll start showing up in these, what-do-you-call-em? eeemeeergent churches? ;->

faith, reverence, and rock'n'roll - yeah!
